Special Notice
Deactivation of your currently installed/activated copies ofFileMaker Pro 9 or FileMaker Pro 9 Advanced is not required toinstall this software update. It is recommended that youdeactivate prior to any major system changes, such as upgrading toLeopard. You must deactivate your currentlyinstalled/activated copies of FileMaker Pro 9 or FileMaker Pro 9Advanced before reinitializing, reformatting or replacing the harddrive.

Software description
This software updates FileMaker Pro 9.0v1 or 9.0v2 or FileMakerPro 9.0v1 or 9.0v2 Advanced to version 9.0v3.

Who should install this software?
Install this software if you are using any of the configurationslisted below. Please verify that you are using the appropriateupdater for your product.
Installation instructions
To ensure a smooth installation, disable virus detectionsoftware before applying the update, and re-enable it after you arefinished.
This update will require approximately 190 MB of free space onyour hard disk.
1. Quit FileMaker 9. Other applications can remain open.
2. Double-click the appropriate FileMaker 9.0v3 updater programfor the platform and product you are using.
3. Read and accept the displayed license agreement, then proceedas directed.
4. Click Update to update your software. After the update hascompleted, you will see a message confirming the successfulinstallation of the new version.
If you have more than one copy of FileMaker 9.0v1 or FileMaker9.0v2 installed on the computer, you will be prompted to select thecopy you want to update.
5. Quit the updater and open the new version of FileMaker toverify that the update was successful.
NOTE: The FileMaker 9 version information may not be updated untilthe next time you log in.
If the update does not complete successfully, try reinstallingthe previous version of FileMaker 9 using your originalinstallation program and then run the updater again, or do thefollowing:
Mac OS:
1. Move the FileMaker Pro application file from theâFileMaker.oldâ folder to your originalâFileMaker Pro 9â or âFileMaker Pro 9Advancedâ folder. Choose to replace the existing file. 2. Run the updater program again.
If, after following the steps above, you are still unable tosuccessfully update to FileMaker Pro 9.0v3 or FileMaker Pro 9.0v3Advanced, contact FileMakerTechnical Support.

1.1 Instant Web Publishing
1.1.1. Instant Web Publishing can now be correctly enabled anddisabled on Mac OS X 10.5.
1.1.2. A problem has been fixed in which Instant Web Publishingmight display the wrong value from a value list. In version 9.0v1and 9.0v2, this problem could occur when one value list item is asubstring of another value in the list. For example, if atext field uses a value list containing âroomA7â and âroom A73â, and the field isset to âroom A73â, Instant Web Publishingerroneously displays âroom A7âinstead. In version 9.0v1 and 9.0v2, the erroneouslydisplayed data could then be committed to the database, if the userentered Edit mode and clicked Submit.

2. New in FileMaker Pro 9.0v2
2.1. Mac OS X 10.5:
2.1.1. Fixed a problem where the application would crash whencreating files, if the system language and region do not match.
2.1.2. For the latest Actual Technologies drivers, please checktheir website.
2.2. General:
2.2.1. Mac OS X: Get(SystemVersion) now returns the correctversion on Mac OS X operating systems ending with double digitrevision numbers, i.e. 10.4.10.
2.2.2. The database consistency check initiated on launch willno longer incorrectly report that a database is damaged for somedatabases that can be opened and used without any problems.
2.3. Print:
2.3.1. Printing UK, Australia, Traditional Chinese, andSimplified Chinese standard labels no longer discards data fromprintouts and print preview.
2.3.2. The application no longer crashes when a page range isspecified.
2.4. Relationships:
2.4.1. A relationship with a global field now returns allrelated records if the value of the other key is empty.
2.5. External Data Sources:
2.5.1. Windows: The application no longer freezes whennavigating records on an external data source table if all recordsthat are cached in FileMaker get deleted in the data sourceside.
2.5.2. Mac OS X: SQLServer 2005: Certain trailing upper ASCIIcharacters no longer get deleted from nvarcharmax and ntext fieldswhen information is pasted or edited in a field.
2.5.3. In a file with a non-US file locale, searching fordecimal values with non-period decimal separators will no longerfail.
2.5.4. Records will no longer disappear from a portal related toanother portal after approximately 400 records are added.
2.6. Scripting:
2.6.1 A host machine no longer crashes if a client uses aRe-login script and tries to reset a password for which a limitedlength has been specified.
2.6.2. A client machine no longer crashes if a client uses aRe-login script and tries to reset a password for which a limitedlength has been specified.
2.6.3. Mac OS X: The application no longer crashes when closingmultiple files that contain script groups.
2.6.4. Fixed an issue where button scripts were not shown in thePerform Script Options dialog after scripts were grouped on theclient in a peer-to-peer networking situation.
2.7. Export:
2.7.1 XML export now performs correctly when the destinationpath includes upper ASCII or Asian characters.
2.8. Recovery:
2.8.1 Fixed an issue that could cause file block corruption withlarge databases.
2.9. Plugins:
2.9.1. Added the ability to set repetitions via the ExecuteSQLentry point that is in our plug-in SDK.
2.10. xDBC:
2.10.1. Databases that have ODBC or JDBC clients connected can nowbe closed correctly.
2.10.2. It is now possible to set date and timestamp fields tonull values using Java PreparedStatement objects.
2.10.3 Numbers are now formatted correctly for Italian whenreturned using a Java PreparedStatement object.
2.11. Activation:

Compatibility
FileMaker Pro 14 and FileMaker Pro 14 Advanced solutions only work with FileMaker 14, FileMaker 13, and FileMaker 12 software. Solutions from FileMaker Pro 11 and earlier must be converted to the latest file format to be opened or shared with FileMaker Pro 14 and FileMaker Pro 14 Advanced.

Please note that OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 and OS X Lion 10.7 are no longer supported. Please update your operating system before upgrading to FileMaker Pro 14.

Peer-to-peer sharing is limited to five simultaneous client connections in addition to the host; each client requires a licensed copy of the software. Use FileMaker Server 14 for increased sharing capability. FileMaker Pro 14 supports Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) addresses, as well as IPv4 addresses.
Any computer accessing FileMaker Pro files over a network will need to have a licensed installation of FileMaker Pro 14 or FileMaker Pro 14 Advanced.
Microsoft .NET
For Windows, FileMaker Pro and runtime solutions require Microsoft .NET framework version 4.5 or later.
